Salem Sunday Streets is an open streets initiative that will temporarily close down a route to vehicle traffic and open it up for people to walk, bike, roll, and play. The approximately 2-mile event route will connect Polk and Marion counties, spanning from Wallace Marine Park to the Stateʼs Capitol building. There will be three activity centers anchoring the route (Wallace Marine Park, Riverfront Park, and the Capitol Mall), which will be spaces that feature the following activities, plus many more to come:

• Climbing wall
• Yoga and Zumba classes
• Farmers market
• Free admission to Hallie Ford Museum of Art
• Bike safety skills
• Bike repair workshops
• Interactive art and science activities
• Health community participation
• Live music and theater
• Bocce ball and disc golf

The goals of Salem Sunday Streets are to:
• Improve the health and physical activity of participants;
• Build community;
• Increase downtown livability and mobility;
• Promote the local economy and local organizations;
• Address community health needs by providing a free, community event that gets people out and active and provides a significant amount of information on health and access to
healthcare;
• Encourage participation in community organizations.
